ISPS Draws Individuals Together Worldwide
The ISPS draws together individuals who are interested in the psychological therapies for psychosis.  The organization tries to promote better knowledge of and reliance on the psychological approaches.  The ISPS-US local group is part of the worldwide ISPS organization.  Several ISPS local groups are established around the United States and Europe, with many more groups in different stages of development throughout Asia, Europe, Australia, India and Africa.  ISPS organizes international congresses held every three years.  The latest took place in Melbourne, September 2003 and the next will be in Madrid, June 2006. Several of the local ISPS-US branches also hold regular conferences and workshops.  Our next annual ISPS-US meeting will be held in Chicago, September 18 and 19.  See this site for details.

The ISPS publishes an international newsletter with 2-3 issues per year, and they are also publishing a series of books on the psychological approaches to psychosis, with publisher Brunner/Routledge.

The first book in the series was “Psychological Approaches and their Effectiveness” edited by B. Martindale, A. Bateman, M. Crowe and F. Margison (2000).

Just released is “Models of Madness: Psychological, Social and Bilogical Approaches to Schizophrenia: edited by John Read, Loren Mosher and Richard Bentall.  To order, e-mail to book.orders@tandf.co.uk

Several e-mail discussion groups are available to members, either through the international organization or through ISPS-US.  More information about ISPS and the local ISPS groups, as well as many resources, can be found at www.isps.org.  We recommend you print out some copies of the ISPS and the ISPS-US Newsletters.
